by Herman Miller Asia Pacific

The creative conference Semi-Permanent is coming up in Sydney this week, on the 13th and 14th May, 2011. As always there's a whole swag of inspiring creative people presenting from around the world including Reg Mombassa, Supervixen, Kelly Thomson, Gemma O'Brien, Kayt Jones, Moffitt Moffitt and many more.

Below is a selection of typographic observations from the lovely Mrs Eaves (a.k.a Gemma O'Brien) from her witty and wordy blog For the love of type, who will be speaking at the Sydney conference.

Semi-Permanent to make its mark in Hong Kong

by Herman Miller Asia Pacific

Born from "a desire to unite the world's design communities with a premium creative experience", Semi-Permanent seems to have made an indelible mark on the international design scene. To date, this premier conference has hosted 26 events in 8 cities, covering 5 countries, with 164 speakers and over 42,000 attendees. 2011 now sees the event expand into Asia Pacific with an initial launch in Hong Kong.

Semi-Permanent Hong Kong 2011 will feature 2 days of multi-disciplinary art and design exhibitions, interactive competitions, installations, and workshops. The "rock star" lineup of 12 high profile speakers includes Grammy Award winning graphic artist Stefan Sagmeister, Prologue Film's  graphic designer Danny Yount, and fashion photographer of the year Kayt Jones.

Simon Velvin, global creative director of Semi-Permanent said: “We've chosen to hold our Asian debut in Hong Kong, a city diverse in design and bustling with culture. Semi-Permanent’s purpose is to explore the exciting world of design by bringing together a panel of exceptionally talented, globally renowned speakers. The event will unite the flourishing Asian design community, inspire individuals and celebrate all design disciplines.”

Semi-Permanent Hong Kong will be held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from 11-12 March 2011. For more information or to buy tickets visit the official Semi-Permanent website.
